YSRCP’s Meruga Nagarjuna Slams TDP For Election Day Violence In Vemuru

Amaravati: YSR Congress Party MLA candidate from Vemuru constituency, Meruga Nagarjuna criticised the TDP for threatening and inciting violence against YSRCP workers. The senior leader from the party met the chief electoral officer of the state Gopalakrishna Dwivedi and briefed him on the violence let loose by TDP leaders in Vemuru on election day.

Nagarjuna narrated at length the manner in which TDP leaders and workers indulged in violence and attacks on YSRCP leaders and activists on April 11. He sought firm action against those who attacked him and damaged his car in Boothumalli village in Vemuru constituency on election day. Speaking to the media after his meeting with the APCEO, Nagarjuna said that YSRCP leaders and workers felt unsafe and sought enhanced security.

The YSRCP leader told media persons that in Ravikampadu village, minister Nakka Ananda Babu along with policemen, attacked women, causing injuries to them. The TDP men singled out YSRCP worker, Premchand and assaulted him, injuring him in the process, he said. Nagarjuna demanded that a case be booked under SC/ST Atrocities Act against TDP men who attacked an ST woman, Charlamcharla Kanakadurga in Kolluru village and abused her in the name of her caste. Similarly, a case should be filed against those who assaulted YSRCP leader Suresh in Penarlanka village of Bhattiprolu mandal.
