Kodela ‘No 1’ In Election Crimes In The State: YSRCP

YSRCP leaders in Guntur - Sakshi Post

Guntur: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) fact-finding committee constituted by the party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met the Guntur Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajasekhar Babu and submitted a petition to him on Sunday.

The committee was formed to probe the incidents of violence and clashes perpetuated by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists in Guntur district during the election day on Thursday.

The committee led by YSRCP leader Marri Rajasekhar along Umareddy Venkateswarulu, Botsa Satyanarayana, Ambati Rambabu met the Guntur SP and appraised him about the situation in Guntur. They told him that the TDP leaders were filing false cases against them but were being let off though their role was clear as they were the ones who had committed arson and violence on the day of elections. They requested him to conduct an impartial probe into this matter.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, senior YRSCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana said that in Sattenapalli, Vemuru and Gurazala constituencies, TDP leaders resorted to attacking YSRCP leaders and the local police were hand in glove with the TDP leaders in these attacks. Instead of preventing them, they had filed false cases of violence on the YSRCP leaders instead, he said.

He questioned the police role when YSRCP candidates Merugu Nagarjuna and Kasu Mahesh Reddy were attacked and badly injured in the attacks. Instead nominal cases were filed against the TDP on the pretext that serious weapons were not used and they were let off, he commented. But the police registered a case of attempt to murder (on speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Reddy), against the YSRCP which was truly unjustified, Botsa said.

Kasu Mahesh Reddy said that the police including the DSPs , CIs and SIs were acting as TDP agents in Gurazala. He warned that when the YSRCP comes into power he would ensure that a through probe would be conducted and stringent action would be taken against the errant police officials and the TDP leaders who were involved in the attacks.

YSRCP Tadikonda Assembly candidate Undavalli Sridevi said that Dalit women including herself were attacked by TDP goondas in booth numbers 51 and 52 in Pedaparimi village. She demanded that cases under the SC ST Atrocities act should be filed against them.

Sattenapalli YSRCP Candidate Ambati Rambabu said that people revolted against the TDP leader and AP speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao , because he had gone to the booth in Inumetla village for rigging votes. This was not something which was staged he clarified. If Kodela was really attacked he should have gone to the hospital , but he sent an unknown person to the police to complain that too after 24 hours after the incident,Ambati said. He questioned the police as to how could a case be filed in such a one-sided manner. Not just that when Section 144 (30 ) of the Police Act was in force how could the TDP leaders stage dharnas and burn effigies, he questioned and also mentioned that no cases were filed against them.

The YSRCP leaders criticised that in the entire state of Andhra Pradesh , Kodela Siva Prasad was the only one who could commit atrocities and arson during elections time and nobody could beat him in this regard. For a senior leader like him to go and lock himself in a polling booth for more than an hour, instigate people and file cases against people (Ambati Rambabu) who have no connection to the case, was appalling, they said.
