Deploy Central Forces in EVM Strongrooms: YSRCP
Vijayawada: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to deploy central forces at the EVM strongrooms in the place of state police or Armed reserve and urged the intervention of the Governor to prevent the misuse of authority by the 'interim government'.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, YSRCP National Secretary and Rajya Sabha Member V Vijay Sai Reddy wrote, “We request the deployment of Central forces at the strongrooms in place of the State police or Armed Reserve in the interests of everyone, particularly when the CM is asking the CEO of AP not to obey the instructions of CEC.”
He has also demanded the installation of CCTV cameras to keep round-the-clock vigil into the strong rooms.
Earlier in the day, Chandrababu had expressed 'deep dissatisfaction' over the manner in which the elections were conducted in AP and demanded the ECI to resort to paper ballot system immediately to preserve the spirit of the electoral process.
Chandrababu Naidu lodged a complaint with CEC Sunil Arora alleging systematic failure and partisan attitude of the ECI.
