AP CEO Clarifies On Chandrababu’s Accusations

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu seen with AP Chief Electoral Officer, Gopalakrishna Dwivedi - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: The Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, Gopalakrishna Dwivedi clarified that the Election Commission was a neutral, constitutional body which was duty-bound to conduct elections in an impartial and fair manner. He further stated that the state Election Commission acted on the instructions of the Central Election Commission.

TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu accused the Election Commission of behaving in a partisan fashion and lodged a complaint with the EC to this effect. Dwivedi further told Chandrababu Naidu that the EC was conducting the elections in an impartial fashion and that it was under no pressure from the CEC on this count.

Not satisfied with Dwivedi's explanation, Chandrababu is reported to have repeated the accusation of partisanship and that the EC was acting at the behest of AP leader of Opposition and chief minister of a neighbouring state. Chandrababu is further said to have remarked that the EC cannot follow the dictates of those sitting in Delhi.
