Police Search Operation On CM Ramesh House, A Drama?
Hyderabad: Serious doubts are being raised in political circles about the 'search' operation conducted by a 40 member team of policemen on the Kadapa house of TDP Rajya Sabha MP, CM Ramesh on Friday morning.
The 'search' triggered a protest by Chandrababu Naidu who staged a sit-in at the Ambedkar statue in Vijayawada. The TDP supremo claimed that he was protesting against vindictive 'searches and raids' conducted by IT and ED officials at the behest of the Centre and Election Commission.
As has been the pattern in recent weeks, Chandrababu blamed PM Modi for this.
A drama?
The drama which began in the early hours it is being doubted, was a staged one. At the eye of the storm is the Urban Inspector of Yerraguntla, BV Ramana, who was transferred from Kurnool to Kadapa recently.
Ramana led a 40 member team of policemen to the house of the TDP MP in a well-planned drama, it is being said.
The Inspector reportedly did not inform his superior officers for conducting the 'search' and an internal inquiry is believed to have been ordered to probe whether other police officials had colluded with TDP leaders in this political drama which was staged to appear like an official search, sources say.
The inspector's conduct is believed to have left senior officials surprised.
BV Ramana and his team searched the premises of the TDP MPs including the bedrooms and found 'nothing'.
The standard procedure in such cases when an MLC, MLA, Minister or MP's house is being searched, is to inform superior officers before conducting the actual operation. However, the Inspector in question, BV Ramana did not do this.
Political observers say that the entire drama seemed to have been enacted by the TDP to draw political mileage and portray itself as a victim of a vindictive government at the Centre acting at the behest of the YSR Congress party.
Secondly, it also tried to depict the AP police as a neutral force at the time of elections. Political analysts say that the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh has reached the height of desperation and drama in its attempts to mislead the people. They say that the scale on which these dramas are being staged is unprecedented.
Chandrababu Naidu tried to kick up a major controversy by saying that PM Modi was targeting him and his party leaders in collusion with the YSR Congress party. CM Ramesh and other TDP leaders joined the chorus singing the same tune.
Analysts say that the entire operation seems to have been a staged one since senior officials were kept in the dark about it. The internal inquiry ordered by higher-ups in the police department will uncover the truth.
