Yatra Movie Telecast Gets EC Nod
Amaravati: TDP's attempts to block the movie, Yatra, from being telecast, have fallen flat. The Election Commission made it clear that the telecast of the movie did not violate the Model Code of Conduct which is now in place.
Yatra, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy's biopic, based on his Padayatra, which powered the Congress to victory unseating the TDP in 2004, proved to be a runaway hit at the box office. The Star-MAA network had acquired the satellite television rights of the film and had announced that the premiere of the movie is scheduled for 12 noon on Sunday.
The TDP protested to the Election Commission against the telecast claiming that it violated the Model Code of Conduct. However, the EC replied to the TDP that the Media Certification Committee (MCMC) had stated that the telecast of commercial films cannot be restrained in TV channels and cinema theatres as per ECI guidelines. The letter further said that the telecast does not come under violation of Model Code of Conduct.
