Senior Journalist Complains To EC, PCI Against Fake Survey Report By Andhra Jyothi

K. Amarnath, former member of Press Council of India lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sunil Arora, as also the Chairman of Press Council of India, Justice CK Prasad on a fake survey published by Andhra Jyothi newspaper, which it attributed to Lokniti-CSDS, with regard to the Lok Sabha and assembly elections scheduled to be held in AP on April 11. The complaint pointed out that within hours of publication of the survey the Lokniti-CSDS denied having conducted any such survey and termed it as Fake.

The senior journalist added in his complaint that the story said "the survey predicted that the ruling Telugu Desam Party would win a landslide victory in the ensuing elections to the State Legislative Assembly on 11 th April 2019. It further read, the Executive Director of Lokniti – CSDS E Venkatesu tweeted within hours of the publication of the news story, that his organisation has not conducted any study on the ensuing elections in Andhra Pradesh and the news story published in Andhra Jyothi is fake news. While condemning the newspaper for publishing a fake survey, he threatened to take legal action against the newspaper."
