YS Vivekananda Reddy’s Wife Files Petition Seeking Probe By Independent Body
Amaravati: The family members of slain YSRCP leader and former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy have raised several doubts over the investigation.
YS Vivekananda Reddy's wife Soubhagyamma has expressed her dissatisfaction over the investigation being carried out by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in her husband's murder case.
YS Soubhagyamma approached the AP High Court and filed a petition seeking probe by an independent body which is not under the control of the AP Government or under the supervision of the High Court. She said that the AP police was conducting a one-sided investigation, which she termed unconstitutional.
So far, two petitions have been filed seeking CBI probe into YS Vivekananda's murder. The slain leader’s daughter Dr Sunitha Reddy had also demanded a CBI probe and urged the Election Commission to take measures to stop politicization of the murder case during elections time in the state.
AP Chief Secretary (Home), DGP, Kadapa SI, SIT Additional DG, Pulivendula SHO, Central Secretary Home were also named as respondents in the petition.
The case had earlier come up for hearing on Monday and the petitioners counsel S Niranjan Reddy informed the court that a PIL related to the same issue had come up for hearing on Tuesday and requested that both the cases should be heard jointly.
Justice Vijayalakshmi agreed and directed that the cases be posted together for hearing.
Earlier, YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had also filed a petition seeking investigation by an independent body in his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy's murder case. The petition will be heard today by Justice Akula Venkata Seshasai on Tuesday.
