TDP Govt Rated Below Average In Survey - Sakshi Post

New Delhi:According to the survey conducted by the Association for Democratic Reforms, one of the aspects marked as important by voters was better livelihoods and employment opportunities. But, with the scores, it is evident that the Andhra Pradesh government had not fulfilled the aspirations of the people.

IIM- Bengaluru professor Trilochan Sastri is the founder and chairman of the entity. They had conducted a survey from October 2018 to December 2018 in 534 constituencies of the country and administered the survey to 2,73,487 voters.

The results were released on Monday. The survey covered topics namely, administrative preferences of the voters, rating by voters on the performance of their governments, and three aspects, which are going to influence the voting patterns.

A total of 31 important topics were given to the voter and the first 5 were asked to be picked by them. The voter had to rate the performance of the government based on the scale of one to five, of which five stands for good, three stands for average and one stands for bad.

Out of the top 10 topics chosen in the country, better livelihoods/ employment opportunities, primary needs namely health care, drinking water, roads and public transport made it into the top five. The irony is that in the top five topics chosen by the voters no government scored above the average.

The top three topics marked by voters of Andhra Pradesh are better livelihoods/employment opportunities, drinking water, better hospitals/primary health care centres.

However, in these three aspects, the AP government has been rated below average. 46.14% had marked better livelihoods/employment opportunities as an important aspect and rated it 2.10 marks. Drinking water was chosen as an important topic by 45.25% and they rated it with paltry 2.04 marks. Better hospitals/primary health care centres were selected by 31.40% and it was rated 2.72.

In the rural areas of AP, three issues selected as important, of which 48% on the availability of water for irrigation, 46% on subsidies to agriculture sector (seeds and fertilizers), 44% picked power supply to irrigation as a significant topic. Their respective score is 2.13 marks, 1.99 marks, and 2.19 marks.
