Uravakonda / Andhra Pradesh: Uravakonda Assembly constituency is located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of 14 constituencies that comes under the Anantapur Lok Sabha constituency.

Vidapanakal,Vajrakarur,Uravakonda, Beluguppa and Kudair are the mandals in this constituency.

As per the estimates of 2011 census, out of total 265731 population 86.62% is rural and 13.38% is urban.

According to the voter list of 2018, there are 200562 voters and 241 polling stations in this constituency. Voter turnout in the 2014 assembly election was 86.07% .

The BJP, the INC, the YSRCP and the TDP got %, 0.71%, 48.8% and 47.43% votes respectively in 2014 Assembly Election.

Y Visweswara Reddy (YSRCP) is the present MLA of Uravakonda Legislative Assembly. Visweswara Reddy a former Communist leader won the 2014 elections with a minor margin after contesting unsuccessfully for two terms.

He defeated Payyavula Keshav of the Telugu Desam Party who is TDP’s national spokesperson Payyavula Keshav and a now an MLC.The TDP re-nominated Keshav as its candidate for 2019.

The main problem plaguing this drought stricken region is potable drinking water and irrigation water for the farmers. The other problems to be taken care of are unemployment, infrastructure suitable for reviving the 5000 plus weaver community, housing sites for the poor and revival of diamond mining in Vajrakarur mandal where diamond bearing kimberlite is found in abundance.
