No Progress On Polavaram Under Chandrababu: YS Jagan

YS Jagan addressing a massive election meeting at Koyyalagudem - Sakshi Post

Leader of the Opposition Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy lashed out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu over the rampant corruption in the state and the delay in Polavaram project. Addressing a massive election meeting at Koyyalagudem in Polavaram constituency of West Godavari. YS Jagan pointed out that Chandrababu hoodwinked the people of AP, who voted him to power and in the name of Janmabhoomi committees all the grass root democratic bodies have been made defunct.

Women constitute half the population and in September 2014, while Chandrababu was in the same constituency, he promised to waive the loans for self-help groups that never took place. He pointed out that a total of Rs 6000 crore has been offered to clear off the debts which stand at a staggering Rs 25,500 crore as of now.

Polavaram project:

YS Jagan observed that it is the YSRCP, which has fought for people who have lost their lands in the project. He promised that if YSRCP comes to power, all them will be made eligible for rehablitation under the 2013 land acquisition act. An extra amount of Rs 5,00,000 will be paid to them along with the Rs 1,00,000 offered way back then.

The YSRCP President pointed out that Chandrababu government has indulged in large-scale corruption in the project. The project, which was to be built by Union government has been taken over by the state government to swindle money in the form of bribes. The sub-contracts of the project had been allocated to a close relative of Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

The Leader of Oof Opposition in AP remarked that the project was supposed to be completed by 2017 but since the Chandrababu government has come to power, the progress of the project is negligible. However, Chandrababu visits the project more often to pose for the pictures. Since then only 3 gates have been constructed out of 48 gates and the project has not progressed beyond pillars. It is learned that it had developed cracks even before it began functioning.

YS Jagan remembered that it was the YSRCP, which fought every year for a better price for tobacco farmers. He reminded the gathering of what the producers of palm oil had complained to him saying that the prices of the oil in Telangana are higher compared with AP. As elections are fast approaching the TDP supremo will begin his gimmicks and dramas. YS Jagan added that apart from this dramas, he will start distributing money in the elections to the voters. Chandrababu has a few mouthpieces in the form of media outlets which cover up his misdeeds, he said..

The YSRCP chief pleaded with the public to vote for Balaraju, who is contesting as the MLA

candidate on YSRCP ticket and Sridhar, for the MP position.

He advised the people to not get carried by away by money and wait for another 20 days. Later YS Jagan elaborated to the crowds about the Navaratnalu offered by YSRCP if voted to power.

1. Every woman sending her child to school will be bestowed with Rs 15000 each year.

2. Expenses incurred for higher education are beyond the common man's means and therefore, higher education will be taken care of by the government.
