Anger Against TDP Polavaram MLA Spills Out Into The Open
Vijayawada: Polavaram Assembly constituency is proving to be a headache for the Telugu Desam party leadership. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is faced with growing dissent on this issue.
A large group opposed to the renomination of sitting MLA Mudiyam Srinivasa Rao staged a protest in front of the Chief Minister‘s residence here raising slogans, while another group demanded that he should be allotted the Polavaram ticket.
Slogans and counter slogans nearly led to a scuffle between the two groups while the area in front of the Chief Minister‘s residence reverberated with slogans from both sides.
Tension started building up as both groups got close to jostling each other. The group opposed to the sitting MLA’s renomination stated clearly that they would ensure his defeat if he would be given the ticket in the upcoming elections.
The other group supporting him said that they would not extend their cooperation to any other candidate.
Polavaram assembly constituency is turning out to be a prickly issue for the TDP supremo who is as yet undecided on this matter. It is one more among the several constituencies which are facing seething resentment against sitting MLAs, in some cases, ministers.
