TDP MLA List: Widespread Dissent In W.Godavari Slows Selection - Sakshi Post

West Godavari: Dissidents and dissent in the ruling Telugu Desam Party in the district seem to have peaked in recent days. There is widespread resentment against sitting MLAs in many constituencies of the district. It is learnt that party workers have been questioning the leadership and have been pressing on it not to give tickets to such unpopular local figures. If the TDP leadership goes ahead and gives tickets to such leaders, they could get defeated, party workers are supposed to have clearly told the high command. Constituencies which present a challenge in the district, in terms of selection of candidates are,

Kovvuru, Chintalapudi, Nidadavolu and Gopalapuram.

Chandrababu and other TDP leaders are caught on the horns of a dilemma in view of these developments, it is learnt. The coordination committee appointed for the district has reviewed the situation about 3 to 4 times and yet has not been able to come to a definitive conclusion.

TDP workers are in a state of confusion over this delay in finalisation of candidates in the district.

Kovvuru

In the constituency of Kovvuru, there is growing resentment against minister Jawahar. His rival group has been making every effort to see that he does not contest in the upcoming elections. TDP workers have been criticising minister Jawahar openly saying that he has taken corruption to new levels bringing the party into disrepute. As a result of growing resentment against Jawahar, TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have kept his ticket in abeyance for now.

Chintalapudi

Sources say that in Chintalapudi constituency, the TDP leadership has denied a ticket to former minister and sitting MLA Pitala Sujata. She is reportedly trying for the Kovvuru seat, but there is no clarity on the matter as of now. With no clear assurance forthcoming from party supremo Chandrababu Naidu, Sujata is learnt to be in a fix. The name of Karem Sivaji is also doing the rounds with respect to the Chintalapudi ticket. It is being said that Karra Raja Rao and former ZP Chairman Jayarajulu are also in the race. One thing however, is clear. The party leadership has a problem on its hands when it comes to picking the right candidate for Chintalapudi constituency. Widespread anti-incumbency has not made things any easier for Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders.

Nidadavolu

TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly finding it very difficult to zero in on a candidate for Nidadavolu constituency. The sitting MLA Boorugupalli Sesha Rao, faces a tide of resentment. TDP workers themselves point out that family rule in the constituency and rising corruption have made things very difficult for the party in the area. Other aspirants for the TDP ticket for Nidadavolu are, the sitting MLA’s brother Venugopalakrishna and Kundula Satyanarayana. As in other constituencies in the district Chandrababu Naidu‘s attitude has thrown party workers into confusion. For now there is no clarity with regard to the local leadership in terms of the final candidate.

The situation in Gopalapuram constituency is no different with sitting MLA Muppidi Venkateswara Rao, facing the heat of dissent from his own party men. The candidature of Eeli Nani for the Tadepalligudem seat has not gone down well with TDP workers in the area.
