YSRCP Tsunami To Sweep Andhra Pradesh: India Today-CNX Survey
India Today-CNX Opinion poll predicted a massive for the YSR Congress Party led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh. It gave as many as 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats to the YSRCP while the TDP is reduced to a paltry 3 seats, as per the poll. Further it said that the NDA led by Narendra Modi would gain a simple majority at the Centre but would lose a substantial number of seats. The BJP on its own would get 238 seats, it predicted while the overall tally of the NDA could be 285.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the TDP-BJP combine won 16 seats while the YSRCP earned a victory in 9 seats. If this tally goes up to 22 as predicted by the India Today-CNX opinion poll, it would reflect a steep rise in the vote share of the party. More importantly, it is a reflection of the widespread acceptance of YS Jagan's leadership. Clearly, the YSRCP holds considerable sway over all the regions of the state. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's U-turns and politics of deception have created a tidal wave of resentment against the ruling TDP across the state. It is in reaction to this anti-incumbency which is prevalent everywhere that the TDP supremo has perhaps now resorted to dubious tactics. It also remains to be seen as to what extend the data theft scam would impact the upcoming elections. The results of the India Today-CNX opinion poll have comes as a shot in the arm for the YSRCP cadre who seem to be working with renewed enthusiasm. Meanwhile, the influx of celebrities and important politicians from other parties continues into the YSRCP.
