If DGP Can Encroach Land, Who Should People Trust?
Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA from Mangalagiri Alla Ramakrishna Reddy on Wednesday, questioned as to how a senior police official of the state could indulge in illegal activities when he was supposed to set an example for being a law abiding citizen.
Speaking in reference to Andhra Pradesh DGP RP Thakur's illegal encroachment of a GHMC Park next to his house in Prashasan Nagar in Hyderabad, he welcomed the decision of the Telangana High Court and said that the DGP was perpetrating these acts with the support of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Alla Ramakrishna Reddy had earlier filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Telangana High Court urging the court to demolish these illegal structures. The case was taken up as an urgent hearing before Justice RS Chauhan and Justice T Amaranath Goud who gave an interim order directing a status quo and giving time until March 11 for the DGP to respond to the GHMC notice. Alla said that apart from building an illegal structure, the DGP had also resorted to illegally occupying the GHMC park land.
He also demanded to know where the money had come from for the DGP to build such a big house. Despite being sent two notices by the GHMC, the Police Commissioner had chosen to ignore them. If the DGP himself had violated laws, then whom should the normal citizen go to for justice, he asked. Is it right for a head of state police to act in an illegal manner? he questioned.
