My House Arrest At The Behest Of TDP Minister: Avinash Reddy
KADAPA: Kadapa Police had detained YSRCP former MP Y S Avinash Reddy and Jammalamadugu constituency in-charge M Sudhir Reddy at Sunnapurallapalle village in Jammalamadugu mandal on Saturday. They were detained ahead of ‘Ravali Jagan, Kavali Jagan’ programme which they were supposed to lead.
The Police also detained TDP leaders and former MLCs P Ramasubba Reddy and C Narayana Reddy, the brother of minister C Adinarayana Reddy, in order to stop them from participating in a party programme in the same village.The YSRCP had taken permission to conduct a programme in Sunnapurallapalle village on Saturday where more than 30 families were supposed to join the party.
But Pulivendula DSP Nagaraju and CI Shankaraiah , Ramakrishnudu along with a team of police officials came to the house of YSRCP leader Avinash Reddy, at around five in the morning and asked him not to attend the program. The YSRCP leader who was about to leave for the village, could not go and was put under house arrest. Police also detained YSRCP Jammalamadugu in-charge Dr M Sudhir Reddy when he was about to leave for the village from Yerraguntla.
Speaking to the media, Avinash Reddy alleged that the police detained him at the behest of Minister Adinarayana Reddy. He also said that the ruling Telugu Desam Party was using the police machinery as shield to control people and that as a citizen of the state he had every right to travel in the villages. He also said that he had taken the necessary permissions, but TDP minister Adinarayana was preventing him from going ahead with his plan.
He also said that this was not the first time that the police was detaining him and that they had already done that before in Gorigenuru village of Jammalamadugu constituency. He said that he had sought the High Court's intervention which had responded positively in his favour, he reminded. Avinash Reddy said that he would continue to meet the people in the village and if need be, will approach the court again against this illegal detention, he emphasised.
