Bizarre Turn To Chintamaneni Controversy: AP Police Arrest YSRCP Dalit Leader - Sakshi Post

West Godavari: Police here acted in a bizarre manner in the controversy surrounding Dendaluru TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar. Instead of filing a case against the MLA whose abusive comments in a video went viral on social media networks, the Pedapudu police arrested YSRCP District General Secretary and Dalit leader, Kathula Ravi Jain.

The Dalit leader’s arrest sparked outrage among SC groups who threatened to go on strike till the police released Kathula Ravi Jain. Interestingly, not a single case has been filed against the controversial TDP MLA despite complaints against him.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s silence in this matter has angered Dalit activists and groups. Instead of stripping the legislator of his positions as MLA and government whip as demanded by SCs, the chief minister is reported to have accused YSRCP of using a doctored video, to the indignation of Dalit groups. Protests in many parts of the state have not led the police to act against the Dendaluru MLA so far.
