5 Big Claims Of Chandrababu Naidu Vs Reality
Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is obsessed with projecting a larger-than-life image of himself. His perception or projection of his achievements, is seldom borne out by reality on the ground. Take just five of the many claims he makes which don't match reality.
Chandrababu Naidu's claim of having developed Hyderabad and Cyberabad has been nailed by none other than Telangana chief minister, K. Chandrashekhar Rao. Leave alone developing the state capital, a 400 year-old city, going back to the Qutub Shahi dynasty, KCR pointed out that the seeds of IT in Hyderabad were sown during the Rajiv Gandhi era. It was Rajiv who asked the then chief minister of AP, Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy, to take up the project of creating a software park in Hyderabad, KCR recalled. This was done in Ameerpet and later NJR took it forward, he added. There was no looking back after that since Hyderabad was best suited for the IT industry in terms of climate and seismic conditions, KCR pointed out.
Chandrababu Naidu claims he is out to "save democracy." Is his coup against his father-in-law NT Rama Rao in 1995 a glowing example of his democratic ways? The TDP supremo's luring of 23 YSR Congress party MLAs into his party, making 4 of them ministers, hardly makes him appear as a champion of democracy. In fact, it proves how undemocratic Chandrababu is and to what lengths he can go to subvert the Constitution.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister claims he had always been a "champion" of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. Did he not get a resolution passed in the AP assembly hailing a special package instead of SCS to the state? Did he not move a motion thanking Prime Minister Modi? Didn't Chandrababu Naidu claim that states which were given SCS showed no signs of development over the years? Did he not ridicule YSR Congress party president and Leader of Opposition in the assembly when YS Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the cause of SCS? Can Chandrababu Naidu deny that he said that Special Category Status was no Sanjeevini or magic cure for AP? When did Chandrababu Naidu suddenly turn into a champion of SCS to Andhra Pradesh?
It was only after the YSR Congress party led by Leader of Opposition and party president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took up the cause of SCS and started agitating for it, that Chandrababu Naidu made a complete U-turn. From then on, he has been trying to project himself as an advocate of SCS, without any success.
The other big claim Chandrababu Naidu is known to make is that he is the "seniormost" politician in the country. Since he repeats this ad-nauseam, will someone please remind him that Sharad Pawar whom has met in recent times in "shows" of Opposition unity, became Maharashtra chief minister way back in 1978. The SP heavyweight, Mulayam Singh Yadav first became chief minister of UP way back in 1989. There are other examples but two would suffice.
According to Chandrababu Naidu, Amaravati was to be built as a global capital. With weeds growing around foundation stones and nothing but temporary buildings, where is the Singapore-like city he had promised? As KCR said, if he could lay claim to having developed Hyderabad in nine years, what did he do in Amaravati so far?
As one can see, the AP chief minister's claims are not in sync with reality on the ground. There are several other instances in this regard, but the 5 cited here are among those on the top of anyone's list.
