Sisodia Shifted,Gopalakrishna Dwivedi Appointed AP CEO
Amaravati: In a major development with elections looming on the horizon, the Chief Election Officer of Andhra Pradesh, R.P. Sisodia has been transferred by the Central Election Commission. The CEC issued orders to this effect and appointed senior IAS official, Gopalakrishna Dwivedi in his place.
Currently, Dwivedi an IAS officer of the 1993 batch, is serving as the principal secretary of animal husbandry in the state. The CEC has directed the state government not to give him any additional responsibilities.
Addressing the media, the new CEO of AP has declared his intention to ensure free and fair polls in the state and sought the cooperation of all. Dwivedi also assured the people of the state through the media of making sure that the electoral rolls in the state are updated and rectified. He also warned those committing irregularities of strict action. The new CEO asked the people of the state to be vigilant when it came to casting their vote, and asked them to check the voters' list for their names.
Dwivedi also stated that he would convene a meeting with leaders of all political parties. He exuded confidence about conducting fair and transparent polls though there was very little time left.
