Chandrababu’s Kurnool Visit Marred By Threats Of Protest, BJP Leaders Held
Kurnool: As the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's visit was scheduled on Wednesday here, there was seething resentment here which was likely to erupt. Police received an alert from the intelligence that BJP leaders are likely to protest in the programs in which Chandrababu was going to participate.
Based on the information police arrested the BJP party district president Harish Babu and other constituency in-charges. Condemning the act BJYM organized a rally in the city, with slogans of "Chandrababu go back." At 3:30 am Three Town CI Hanmanthu Nayak and team broke into the house of Harish Babu in Arora Nagar and shifted him forcibly to the police station.
Opposing the arrests BJP state vice president Kapileswaraiah, and other leaders Sudhakar, Kalinga Narasimha Varma, former corporator Rangaswamy held a rally starting from the party office till NTR statue. As a part of the rally, they even tried to burn the effigy of Chandrababu. But the police took them into custody and detained them in the police station. After the CM left, all of them were released on conditional bail. Adoni, Mantralayam, Banaganapalle leaders from the party were also taken into custody. BJP district president Harish Babu spoke to the media and said police are trying to be overzealous.
