Dr YSR Took Forward Polavaram, Chandrababu Did Nothing: Somu Veerraju

BJP State working committee president Somu Veerraju - Sakshi Post

Peddavalteru (Vizag East): BJP State working committee president Somu Veerraju was all praises for late chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He said, “It was under the term of people’s leader that Polavaram was started and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had no right to talk about it.”

Talking to the media at the Visakhapatnam BJP office, he said: “It was Congress CM Anjaiah who laid the foundation for the project.” Polavaram was later taken up by Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, under whose term much of the work was done. Referring to Chandrababu’s comments that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is funding the project, he revealed that Union has till now sanctioned Rs 6,700 crores for the project.

The BJP leader added, “Chandrababu came to power in 2014, but Polavaram work began late in 2016 causing a rise in expenditure to the tune of Rs 52,000 crores.”

He said Chandrababu is very keen on changing contractors but not on completing the project, so as to gain huge sums of money as commissions. Veerraju said” Chandrababu was in power for nine years, but never did he think of the project. All of a sudden, he started criticizing the Union, he added.

He wondered, how Chandrababu, who backstabbed NTR and came to power can criticize PM Narendra Modi, who got a clean chit from Supreme Court in the Rafale deal. Chandrababu is busy spending people’s money on trips and openings. Apart from them, he is also wasting valuable time of the government officials, he added.  The BJP leader said that the Union government has granted Rs 9.65 lakhs to the state, which is highest in all other states. Referring to the comments against the Union government by TDP leaders Kala Venkata Rao and Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, he called them baseless.
