Asaduddin Owaisi Predicts YSRCP Clean Sweep In AP

AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The YSR Congress party (YSRCP) led by Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly will emerge victorious in the 2019 elections, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi declared. He credited late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy for ensuring 4% reservation for Muslims.

In an interview to Sakshi, Owaisi predicted that the YSRCP will grab all the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the State. Stating that AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu was fearing defeat in the upcoming polls, he also said that the TDP was befriending Congress party in Telangana to save its face.

Excerpts from the Hyderabad MP's interview:

The Congress labels MIM as BJP's B-team. What's your opinion?

Owaisi: The MIM was considered an F-team of the Congress between 1998 and 2012. Now, in 2018, we are being called a B-team. Doesn't it mean we have gained political strength?

On the TDP-Congress alliance in Telangana?

Owaisi: The only thing I want to say is that the YSRCP will sweep the AP elections. Chandrababu is rushing to Telangana fearing defeat in AP. He will lose in Telangana as well.

The Congress's allegation over MIM's splitting of secular votes in national level?

Owaisi: In the previous elections in Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand, we haven't contested. Why was it that the Congress lost all three of them? The Congress is reduced to fighting elections with the TDP in Telangana.

The MIM is contesting in eight constituencies this time around. Confident of winning them all?

Owaisi: By God's grace, we will win all the eight seats.

On the Congress's claim of credit for 4% Muslim reservation?

Owaisi: It is with the efforts of Dr. YSR that the reservation was possible. In December 2003, Dr. YSR and MIM founder Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi met in Khammam MLA Younis Sultan's residence. Responding to Salahuddin Owaisi's request for Muslim reservations, Dr.YSR said he would consult the national leaders. Hence, it is his work.
