HC Disqualifies TDP MLA For False Information, Declares YSRCP MLA Winner
Hyderabad: In a verdict with far-reaching implications, the High Court declared TDP MLA Eranna representing Madakasira constituency in Anantapur as disqualified on Tuesday. The runner up from the YSR Congress party Dr Mopuragundu Thippe Swamy is now declared as the winning candidate. The reason for disqualification as stated by the HC is that Eranna had given wrong information in the affidavit filed during the nomination. The court said that details about the four criminal cases in which he was involved and not declaring that his wife is a Karnataka government servant with the Anganwadi were the reasons.
YSRCP candidate in the election Thippe Swamy filed a petition that he has breached the law by not stating about the criminal cases and his wife’s employment status. Now the court has nullified Eranna’s win and asked Thippe Swamy to continue as MLA.
TDP MLA Eranna has been convicted in a case filed against him in the state of Karnataka. In the two cases filed in AP, chargesheet has been filed in one case. This was brought to the notice of returning officer by Thippe Swamy which was then left unaddressed. However Thippe Swamy has now won the legal battle.
