YS Jagan Attack: Who Is Srinivasa Rao?

Visakhapatnam: The culprit behind the murderous attack on Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress party (YSRCP) Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been identified as Janipalli Srinivasa Rao, a worker in Fusion Foods, a restaurant owned by Harshvardhan, a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader who aspired for the party ticket from Gajuwaka constituency during 2014 elections. According to the news doing rounds in the social media, Srinivasa Rao has been working in this restaurant since an year.

While the Leader of Opposition was seated in the premium lounge at the airport this afternoon, Srinivasa Rao approached YS Jagan seeking a selfie with him. With a bottle in his hand and a knife behind it, the culprit attacked the YSRCP Chief as he rose from the chair he was seated in.

The social media posts further describe Srinivasa Rao as a native of Thaniyalapalli in Amalapuram mandal of East Godavari district. His age was mentioned as 30. The police are carrying out an investigation on the matter as Governor Narasimhan himself sought a report from Andhra Pradesh DGP RP Thakur.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu also responded on the attack informing that the concerned agencies were acting on the matter.
