YV Subba Reddy Padayatra Starts In Kanigiri
Kanigiri (Prakasam): Protesting against the negligent attitude towards Veligonda project, the lifeline of Prakasam district, YSR Congress Party former MP YV Subba Reddy started his padayatra today from here. The Padayatra was flagged off by YSRCP leader and former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. Prior to starting the padayatra, a massive public meeting was held in which many party leaders, workers and supporters participated to express their solidarity for the padayatra.
YS Subba Reddy will go on padayatra for 15 days covering five constituencies in the district. In total he would be walking around 200 kilometers and will end his walkathon at Veligonda project on the final day.
Speaking at the public meeting, the former YSRCP MP said Prakasam district has not seen any kind of development over the last four years. Moreover, the district was reeling under severe drought. He said only with the help of Veligonda project the water scarcity problem would be solved in Prakasam district. He criticised the false promises on Veligonda project by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
He reminded the people that Chandrababu had promised to complete the Veligonda project within one year of coming to power. Despite four years there has been no change in the project status. The district was affected by drought and people were dying because of drinking fluoride-contaminated water.
Understanding the people's problem and also the government’s negligent attitude, he had taken up this padayatra, Subba Reddy said. He promised to complete the Veligonda project within one year of YSRCP coming to power. Finally, he thanked all the people who have come in support of his padayatra.
