Chandrababu Diluted SCS Issue: YSRCP Leaders At Deception Day Protest
Guntur: A large number of YSR Congress Party leaders, supporters and workers from across the state along with intellectuals, students and general public made it to YSRCP's Vanchana Pai Garjana (Deception Day Protest) here today. The protest which started at 9 this morning went on till 4.30 pm. Several YSRCP leaders highlighted the misrule of TDP government and how it's leaders had betrayed the people of state.
Speaking at the protest, former MP Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had diluted the issue of Special Category Status (SCS). He said that Chandrababu had forgotten the responsibility of safeguarding the state's interests. The AP CM wrote a letter in support of state bifurcation which had caused a great deal of loss to AP, he observed.
During bifurcation, TDP and the BJP promised Polavaram, SCS, railway zone, petrochemical complex, Kadapa steel plant and Dugarajapatnam, but never bothered to fulfill any of these, he said. Leader of Opposition in AP legislative assembly and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's stance on SCS has been the same from day one. He said for SCS to AP, YS Jagan had conducted several programmes and observed protests. "Chandrababu has no right to ask vote from the people," he added.
The YSRCP leader questioned the AP CM on the need to poach 23 YSRCP MLAs and three MPs. BJP and TDP had made many promises and conveniently forgotten about them, he added.
Later speaking at the programme, YSRCP official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said, TDP had promised 15 years of SCS to AP and cheated the people. Later after coming to power TDP started singing a different tune saying that Special Package was much better than SCS. He reminded that before 2014 elections, Chandrababu was demanding SCS to AP.
After coming to power, the AP CM was pushing for Special Package, and now that the elections were approaching Chandrababu was chanting SCS once again, Ambati said. SCS to AP would be possible only with YS Jagan, he added.
