SCS Is AP’s Right: Madanapalle Boy’s Suicide Note
Chittoor: Depressed over the Centre's failure to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, a youth sacrificed his life here in Madanapalle Ramarao Colony this morning. Rasi Sudhakar, the 26-year-old son of municipal workers Ramachandra and Sarojamma, left a suicide note that read, "Special status is our right," before hanging himself.
Sudhakar is the second person to sacrifice his life in the fight for SCS, after the suicide of Munikoti from Tirupati. The deceased had been an active participant in all the programmes organized to fight for SCS. Also, it is learnt that Sudhakar had raised certain issues in YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's interactive session with local handloom weavers.
The police has registered a case stating the deceased had committed suicide in fight for SCS.
Tension prevailed in the government hospital premises, when MLA Desai Thippa Reddy staged a protest after the news of suicide broke. Former MP Mithun Reddy, MLA Desai Thippa Reddy consoled the family members of Sudhakar. Mourning the death, YSR Congress, CPM and CPI parties called for Madanapalle bandh on Sunday.
