Illegal Quarry Tipper Mows Down Woman, MLA Roja Demands Action

Nagari: In a ghastly accident that left the town in a state of shock, a speeding tipper heading from an illegal quarry mowed down a woman on Friday afternoon here. On learning about the incident, YSR Congress Party MLA RK Roja rushed to the spot and demanded action against the quarry owners. She also decried the attempts of police to lift the body without conducting an inquest.

In Nagari, illegal quarrying goes on in full swing, thanks to the help of TDP leaders. The illegal quarry from where the tipper was carrying heavy load, was forcibly reopened because of pressure from the TDP leaders. The woman who died on the spot, after being mowed down by the tipper, is survived by husband and three children.

The YSRCP MLA sat on a protest after the death forcing the police to keep the body at the accident spot for a long time. Roja alleged that the quarry was closed sometime ago, but was forced open under pressure from the TDP leaders and with the active help of the local CI. She demanded that the CI be suspended for promoting illegal activities and wanted suitable compensation for the kin of the deceased.
