YSRCP Raises Important Issue On Education In RS

YSRCP MP Vijaya Sai Reddy - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: YSR Congress party (YSRCP) Rajya Sabha MP Vijaya Sai Reddy raised an important issue during the question hour in Rajya Sabha today. Questioning he government over its new scheme "Samagra Shiksha Abhiyaan", the YSRCP leader asked whether appropriate measures had been taken to safeguard the interests of the contract employees who were working under the previous versions of the scheme.

The Government of India brought about the Samagra Shiksha scheme with an aim to be prepared with the broader goal of improving school effectiveness measured in terms of equal opportunities for schooling and equitable learning outcomes. The new scheme subsumed the three old schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Teacher Education (TE).

"How did the government plan to utilize the services of the contract employees, who would otherwise be left in the lurch of unemployment? Does the government have an alternative to this issue?" Vijaya Sai Reddy questioned.

Responding to YSRCP's question, Union Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the government will look into the issue and acknowledged that Vijaya Sai Reddy brought a new issue to the government's notice.

The YSRCP MP raised a counter question to the Minister's statement, asking him if the Centre would share the expenditure under the scheme in the 90:10 ratio, since Andhra Pradesh is paid special attention. However, the Union Minister maintained that the current system of implementation of the central schemes would be continued.
