Chandrababu Accepted Special Package: BJP In RS

BJP Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao recalled that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the Centre's decision to allot a special package to the state, on several occasions, while speaking in the Mahanadu meetings, Assembly and Legislative Council meetings. Chandrababu, while addressing the Legislative Assembly, said that the package covered all the benefits which would otherwise be offered under the Special Category Status (SCS), the MP said during a discussion on the AP Reorganization Act in Rajya Sabha here today.

"It is only because of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government that the state is receiving funds under the special package. The TDP leaders are trying to create a political issue of it, even though the state is receiving an additional Rs 27,000 crores of funds," he said amid protests by the TDP MPs.

The Rajya Sabha member said that Krishnapatnam is turning out to be a new industrial city. To offset the revenue deficit, the Centre allotted Rs 22,300 crores to Andhra Pradesh, he added. "There is no co-relation between the SCS and industrial discounts, and there is no major difference between states with and without the SCS," he reiterated.
