Amaravati: The secret pact between Congress and TDP is once again out in the open. During the last Parliament session, YSR Congress Party moved a no-confidence motion on NDA government in the Lok Sabha 13 times demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. It also sought fulfillment of all the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act. Despite the AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu saying Special Package was much better than SCS, he realised that there was severe opposition against his claim in the public. Moreover, with YSRCP upping the ante and its MPs resigning from their posts as well as sitting on an indefinite fast, the AP CM realised that he was on difficult footing.

Chandrababu changed his stance and took a u turn on Special Package and said SCS was better. Interestingly, Congress played its part in the entire process. Congress was the reason for the state to be bifurcated, but during bifurcation, they had not included SCS to state in AP Reorganisation Act. It maybe recalled that relentless fight for SCS to AP and fulfillment of all the promises was the norm of YSRCP and its President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

YSRCP's in its fight for AP, had moved a no-confidence motion 13 times. The party leaders garnered the support of various other political parties. But TDP MPs stalled the motion to be admitted in Lok Sabha. The TDP MPs staged dramas by walking to the Speaker's podium and creating a ruckus in the Lok Sabha. Along with TDP, Tamil Nadu MPs issue of Cauvery was taken up by the Speaker and they too stalled the Parliament proceedings. With Lok Sabha sessions in a state of deadlock, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan was forced to postpone the sessions. At the end, the entire session was washed out. YSRCP believes that TDP and BJP were behind all these.

But today's proceedings has come as a surprise to the entire nation. On the first day of Parliament's monsoon session, TDP MP Kesineni Nani moved a no-confidence motion and was immediately supported by Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Malikarjuna Kharge. Even as the Congress supported the motion, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan admitted it. "The House will take up the debate (on the motion) on Friday, July 20th. The discussion will be held for the full day, followed by voting on it," Mahajan announced.

In the earlier session, all through the month, the no-confidence motion was not admitted and never debated. Moreover, the proceedings were not conducted on the grounds that the house was not in order. When the YSRCP moved the no-confidence motion, the Congress was in two minds on supporting the motion. But this time around, it has expressed their full support to TDP. People tend to see through these secret pacts.
