'Andhra Jyothy collecting donations illegally'

A Public Interest Litigation was filed in the High Court over Andhra Jyothy newspaper collecting the donations in the name of development of Andhra Pradesh.

Bommisetti Vatsala, a publisher from Prakasam district, filed the same.

Revenue officials,Andhra Bank and Bank of India are made the respondents in the case.

The petitioner informed the court that the newspaper is collecting the donations without getting necessary permission from Reserve Bank of India.

“The development of Andhra Pradesh is the duty of central and state governments. Andhra Jyothy is misleading the people in the issue,” said the petitioner in his PIL.

“The court should ask the newspaper in what capacity it is collecting the donations,” requested the petitioner.
She clarified that the way the newspaper is collecting the donations is against the rules of RBI.

A division bench, headed by the Chief Justice, will take up the PIL on Monday.
