Andhra CID procures documents of case filed against KCR
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh CID on Thursday obtained documents related to a criminal case filed by Jerusalem Mathaiah, an accused in the cash-for-vote scam, against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Talking to media persons, Superintendent of Police (CID) P Koteswara Rao said he has received all the case papers, including the FIR. Koteswara Rao took possession of documents related to the case. Asked about the next course of action, the CID officer said his department will proceed in the case after studying the papers.
The case against KCR, filed on June 10 at Satyanarayanapuram Police station here on a complaint by Mathaiah, has been registered under IPC sections related to criminal intimidation and extortion, among others. The Andhra Pradesh government had transferred the case to CID and asked the agency to procure relevant papers from the police station here.
The cash-for-vote scandal centred around TDP MLA from Telangana A Revanth Reddy has also cast a shadow on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has accused the TRS government in the adjoining state of tapping his phones.
In his complaint, Mathaiah has alleged that Rao's followers visited his house in Hyderabad, where they threatened him and his family members and asked him to give a statement against Naidu in the scam. The complaint alleged that they also took him to unknown places and assaulted him several times.
