Andhra Assembly's monsoon session to commence on Sep 17 - Sakshi Post

The monsoon session of Andhra Pradesh Legislature will begin here on September 17. Governor E S L Narasimhan issued a formal notification today summoning the Legislature to meet for its tenth session.

The session is expected to end on September 22 with a holiday on 19th on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaviti.
Constitutional obligation forced the Congress government to convene the monsoon session of the Legislature as it is mandatory for it to meet once in six months. Otherwise, the government was reluctant to conduct the Legislative session because of political reasons.
Besides the main opposition Telugu Desam and Telangana Rashtra Samiti, the Congress also has to contend with YSR Congress which is now a strong force with 17 legislators in the Assembly.
While the vexatious Telangana issue is expected to be raised in the Legislature yet again, other critical issues like the grave power crisis in the state, plight of farmers and the fee reimbursement scheme are also likely to dominate the session.
The government has to get a Bill passed to replace the ordinance related to professional educational institutions issued last month. The land allotment policy that was approved by the Cabinet is unlikely to be taken up for discussion during the monsoon session while the government wants to hold a separate session to discuss the SC and ST Special Component Plan, official sources said.
