'Temporary capital, waste of money'

YSR Congress has said that TDP government is continuing with its extravaganza even as the economy is being portrayed as shabby and found fault with the State’s decision to build temporary capital between Vijayawada and Guntur.
“This is gross waste of public money. Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana announcing that a temporary capital will come up between Vijayawada and Guntur adds to extravaganza of the State. We demand that administration should be carried out in the government buildings
available in the two cities without burdening the exchequer,” Party MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy told reporters in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
On one side, the State has been tightfisted when it comes to welfare measures and has downsized pensions, loan waiver and other welfare schemes but on the other hand it has been very lavish on land allotments and releasing funds to projects to benefit contractors, he said.
The double standards of the State are once again exposed when it has agreed to acquire 22.72 acres of land from Arihant Pojects, the developers of Singapore Township near Mangalagiri and compensate with an equal extent of land in the nearby area.
Why the same formula does not apply to Thulluru farmers as well, he asked. The State is taking land from the farmers in acres and giving in yards. There are no answers as to when and where the land will be given. This discrimination will be fought by the farmers and we will stand by
them.
It is a fact that some farmers in the low-lying areas are willing to give up land voluntarily but majority of farmers are resisting and are ready to file the prescribed Form to express their objection but the officials are not available to receive them. Once the Forms are filed and the
regulated 15-day time is lapsed, legal options will be explored and our Party under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will always be with the farmers fighting for justice, he said.
While the Revenue Minister KE Krishna Murthy seems to be inactive, Municipal Minister P Narayana has been hyperactive as he is the yes-man of Chief Minister, he said.
When there is nearly 20 acres of government land available in Mangalagiri, the government going for constructing temporary capital is squandering away public money he said.

At least twice, sirens sounded during the drill, which started at 3 pm.
PWD Minister Parvesh Verma said 40-50 more such sirens will be installed across the national capital, each of which will cover an area of 8 km.
