AP, Telangana among Five Disaster-Hit States, Receive 1554.99 Crore from Centre

Centre Approves ₹1554.99 Crore Aid for Five Disaster-Hit States
A high-level committee, led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has approved ₹1554.99 crore in additional central aid under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for five states affected by floods, flash floods, landslides, and cyclonic storms in 2024.
State-Wise Allocation:
Andhra Pradesh – ₹608.08 crore
Nagaland – ₹170.99 crore
Odisha – ₹255.24 crore
Telangana – ₹231.75 crore
Tripura – ₹288.93 crore
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Amit Shah stated: "The Modi government stands firmly with disaster-affected people. Today, we approved ₹1554.99 crore in additional assistance for Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Telangana, and Tripura under the NDRF. This is in addition to ₹18,322.80 crore already released to 27 states under the SDRF."
Additional Disaster Relief Funds
Apart from this aid, the Centre has also allocated:
₹18,322.80 crore to 27 states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)
₹4,808.30 crore from NDRF to 18 states
₹2,208.55 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 14 states
₹719.72 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to eight states
Immediate Action by Centre
Following the disasters, the Centre immediately dispatched Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) to assess the damage, even before receiving formal requests from the states.
This financial aid will be adjusted against 50% of the opening balance available in each state’s SDRF for the year.
