Bandh success; YSRCP flays repressive measures

The bandh in protest against the indifference of State and Central governments in according Special Status to Andhra Pradesh has been a grand success across the state with all sections of people voluntarily joining the protest, YSR Congress has said and strongly condemned the TDP government for its repressive tactics in arresting leaders and cadre as it stands exposed in the eyes of people for its inefficiency.

‘People from all sections of the society and organisations, left parties, student organizations have taken part in the bandh and the jittered government has imposed Section 144 and used repressive methods to scuttle the bandh,’ party leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu told reporters here on Saturday.
People came out in large numbers defying prohibitory orders and impulsive government seems to have given orders to scuttle the bandh by any means and the party leaders from General Secretaries, to MPs, MLAs, other elected representatives and cadre were arrested in large numbers in all the 13 districts of the State.
The bandh was a grand success in Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari, Prakasam, Nellore, Ananthapuram, Kurnool, Kadapa, Chittoor, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts where shops and establishments and educational institutions were closed and people came in to join the bandh voluntarily in large numbers.
‘Special Package is not an alternative to special status. This message was conveyed to the nation loud and clear with clarity and conviction and the arrests only show the cowardice of the State government which has lost its reason,’ he said.
There were reports that the cabinet meeting had sent a message to the official machinery that the bandh should be foiled at any cost or the officials have to face consequences.
In Krishna district former minister K Parasarathi and former MLA Vangaveeti Radha were arrested while they were holding a dharna at RTC depot and students who rushed to the Chief Minister’s camp office were dragged out and pushed into a police van.
In Nelloredistirct MP Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy was arrested and in Prakasam district, G Ravi was arrested at Addanki and cadre was arrested at Chirala bus depot.
In Visakhaptnam district, Party General Secretary Vijay Sai Reddy along with other leaders was arrested while they were holding dharna at Jagadamba centre. MLA G Eshwari was arrested at Paderu while hundreds of party workers were taken into custody at S Kota.
In Guntur district MLAs A Ramakrishna Reddy (Mangalagiri) and P Ramakrshna Reddy (Macherla) were arrested. In Chittoor district party MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy was arrested at Tirupati while former MLA B Karunakar Reddy was also arrested in the temple town.
Other leaders who were held or put on house arrest include Amjad Basha (Kadapa), former MLA Gurnath Reddy, K Venkatrami Reddy (Ananthauram), B Rajsekhar Reddy (Kurnool), MLA Kalavathi (Vizianagaram).

Woman Killed in Uri during Pakistan Firing Overnight, Multiple Others Injured.

A woman was killed and four other civilians were injured in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district as the Pakistan army intensified artillery fire across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, officials said, adding that a large number of houses have also been damaged in the cross-border shelling.

Reports state that a Pakistani shell struck the vehicle the woman was traveling in, resulting in her death. The woman was identified as Nargis Bashir, and some of her family members had boarded a vehicle to flee from the Razarwani village in Uri that was hit by the mortar and artillery shells from Pakistan.

Delhi Tests Air Raid Sirens as Part of Mock Drill

In an attempt to educate and make people aware about the consequences of war amid Pakistan's continuous firing in the border states, the Delhi government did a mock drill to test air raid sirens installed at the Public Works Department (PWD) at ITO and asked people to not react out of panic. 

District Magistrate (Central) G. Sudhakar also urged people to remain calm and not be alarmed when they hear the sirens.

At least twice, sirens sounded during the drill, which started at 3 pm.

PWD Minister Parvesh Verma said 40-50 more such sirens will be installed across the national capital, each of which will cover an area of 8 km.

Innocent Civilians Along LOC Move to Safer Areas Amid Pakistan Shelling

Residents present in Rajouri along the Line of Control have started moving to safer areas after heavy cross-border shelling and attempted drone and missile attacks last night by Pakistan. All drone and missile attacks were intercepted and foiled by India's air defence system.

Pakistan Claims Economic Affairs Social Media Accout Hacked

Pakistan has claimed that its Economic Affairs Division account on social media has been hacked and called the post where it appealed for more loans from the international community owing to losses from Operation Sindoor "fake." 

In a post on X, Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fact Checker shared a picture of the post and mentioned that it was "fake." Additionally, it asserted that the account had undergone hacking.

A missile-like object is found deep inside the Dal Lake after loud explosions were heard on Saturday morning in Srinagar, which is a major tourist attraction. The defense ministry also confirms that Pakistan has intruded into Srinagar's airspace in a press release.

India Pakistan War Live! Kashmir Loses Electricity in Various Parts

Since the early hours of Saturday morning (10th May), Srinagar has been rocked with multiple explosions, and now electricity is taken off in various places across Kashmir. The reason for this is yet to be determined, as reports indicate multiple places in Kashmir have lost power. The Indian Army released a statement after the press briefing, where they mentioned that they have attacked and neutralized multiple terrorist launchpads in a coordinated fire assault, razing them to cinders.
