Akhilapriya Vows Not To Cry On Father’s Memories Until She Fulfills His Ideals

Amaravati: In a rare and exemplary act of braveheart expected of a leader, 29-year-old Bhuma Akhilapriya, MLA from Allagadda and daughter of the demised Nandyala MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy, on Tuesday vowed never to cry on her father's death again until she fulfills his ideals.

Braving the grief of bereavement after her father's untimely demise just two days back, the young legislator attended the Assembly and declared that she would live to fulfill the commitment Bhuma Nagi Reddy had for the people of his Nandyal constituency in Kurnool district. Akhilapriya lost her mother Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy in April 2014 in a ghastly road accident when she was returning from an election campaign.

Recalling her father's love for his wife, Akhilapriya said, "He would have died immediately after my mother's death. Their love for each other was so intense. But he must have survived the grief for this brief period only to prepare me mentally to withstand a bigger tragedy." She said the people of Allagadda constituency from where she became an MLA after her mother died and also the people of her father's Nandyala constituency stood by her in the time tragedy and she would work to fulfill their needs and ambitions so that her parents' names will go down in history.

The only thing I feel sad about today is, I am speaking in the new Assembly for the first time on my father’s death, she lamented. Visibly moved by her speech narrating the love and affection shared in the family in her father’s stewardship, women members in the House struggled to fight back tears in their eyes. However, Akhilapriya did not break down during her speech.

Members of the AP Legislative Assembly mourned the death of Bhuma Nagi Reddy and recalled their association with the demised leader. The House adopted a resolution moved by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu condoling the death of the sitting legislator.
