In an incident, reminiscent of the shocking Palem bus accident, which killed 45 passengers, a bus collided with a paddy cutter near Palem of Kottarpet Mandal on Tuesday.  

Three persons were critically injured in the accident and they were rushed to a nearby hospital. Other passengers have asked the road safety officials to put up boards calling the area an accident prone zone. 

October last year, in the same spot, a Jabbar Travels bus caught fire, charring to death 45 passengers. Many families lost their sole breadwinners in the accident and since have been running pillar to post, in a bid to get compensation  and justice.  

APSRTC bus carrying 45 people catches fire 

An Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Indra bus, on its way to Hyderabad caught fire near Kondapaka, Medak district on Tuesday. 

According to reports, the bus was carrying 45 people when it caught fire, but no one was hurt. The bus driver noticed the smoke coming from the engine and immediately alerted the passengers to get down.

Fortunately, passengers quickly managed to alight from the bus. The bus, belonging to Karimnagar depot, was headed to Hyderabad.

Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire. Short circuit is said to be the reason behind the fire.
