After online post on IS threat, lecturer dies in road mishap in Warangal

Hyderabad: A junior lecturer of a Hyderabad private college died in an accident under mysterious circumstances after he stated that he had received threats from ISIS in a Facebook post.

The deceased was identified as Praveen Kumar, junior lecturer of MS College, located in Chaderghat police limits, Hyderabad.

On Sep 28, Praveen Kumar posted on his Facebook profile page stating that —ISIS training centre was being run in Hyderabad. “A lecturer was beheaded in MS Junior college, earlier. Now I have received threats from terrorists. Last year, they tried to kill me,” he posted.

Later, the Matwada police of Warangal police Commissionerate received information that a person died in a road mishap and the deceased was identified as Praveen Kumar.

According to Warangal police, Kumar came under the wheels of an unidentified truck around 9:30 pm while trying to cross the road. The accident took place near MGM Hospital. The truck details are yet to be known.

“Praveen’s body was handed over to his family members. A case relating to accidental death was registered,” Matwada police said.

“On Wednesday, Praveen left for Warangal for unknown reasons. After posting a message on his Facebook profile page, he died in a road mishap. We did not receive any complaint from the college management or family members in connection with the Facebook posts,” an inspector said.

After receiving information about the post on Facebook by Kumar, a police team visited the college and inquired about Praveen. It was revealed that Kumar was mentally disturbed and was suffering from depression. He applied for leave and left for Warangal.
