Jairam triggers CM race, Sarve in the forefront
Union minister Jairam Ramesh on Monday announced that his party would make a Dalit, the Chief Minister, if it came to power in Telangana state which has a strong presence of Dalits.
Speaking to reporters in Karimnagar, the union minister said that AICC chief Sonia Gandhi was not Telangana 'Maata'( mother of Telangana) but Telangana 'nirmata' (Telangana producer). "Congress had, 50 years ago, appointed a Dalit Chief Minister, Neelima Sanjeeva Reddy, he was also the president of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. So it is not like we have not appointed Dalits," he said.
He added that Congress party will give a chance to TJAC leaders to contest if the latter would like to.
On Sunday, the Union Minister called his party cadres in Telangana take up the upcoming election campaigning in an aggressive manner and advised all to go out and claim the credit for helping people realise the dream of Telangana. He also asked his party workers not to bother about an alliance with TRS.
Criticising Kiran's move of starting a new party, Jairam said that Kiran was not a responsible CM and that many problems occurred because of him.
Previously, TRS chief KCR had also announced that he would make a Dalit the first CM of Telangana, however when asked about the same recently, KCR evaded the question.
