The Telugu version of the Tamil hit Mersal featuring illayathalapathy Vijay in the lead role hit theatres after much delay over its controversial content.

Post Censor Board Clearance, the film opened to positive reviews on Thursday. Adirindhi stars Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Akkineni as female leads. The film which is roaring at the box office both in Telugu and Tamil has drawn a lot of flak for mocking the Narendra Modi Government's initiatives with respect to GST, Digital India and Demonetisation. Although the audience has given their thumbs up and also praised Vijay for his bold film, the political implications cannot be ruled out.

Those who watched the Telugu version of the movie on Day 1 said that the controversial parts have been muted in Adirindhi.

Pawan Kalyan's friend Sharat Marar, who holds the Telugu rights of this film, has heaved a sigh of relief post release of Adirindhi after the stupendous response the film has been receiving.
