Actress Says ‘No’ To Big Ticket Projects
Chennai: Riding high on the success of Malayalam-hit, 'Premam', actress Sai Pallavi has raised her remuneration for big ticket projects.
The actress reportedly refused ace director Mani Ratnam's offer for "Kaatru Veliyidai" that features Karthi in the lead role. Her reason for refusal - "the role is too glamorous". Furthermore, she also allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh to star in a big ticket Tamil project that also features actors Vikram and Santhanam. Sai Pallavi is yet to debut in Tamil films but her allegedly "high" demands are forcing directors to opt for other actresses.
Industry sources say that new actors generally do not hike their fee after only one hit but look out for opportunities especially in other languages. Sai Pallalvi also stated that since her first movie in Malayalam, 'Premam', was a hit her next projects in Tamil will also be a hit. She also added that she cannot be forced to do glamour roles which is forcing producers to think twice on their offers. While Sai Pallavi immediately landed roles in Telugu and Tamil movies following the success of Premam, film-makers are now hesitant to sign her up.
