ACB nabs municipal staff accepting bribe

Two state government employees working in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were caught red-handed accepting a bribe by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

K Jagannatham and Vallabha Srisailam work at the office of GHMC Deputy Commissioner of Circle-5 at Sardar Mahal here. While Jagannatham is a tax inspector, Srisailam is a bill collector, ACB sources said. Srisailam collected a bribe of Rs 3000 through a middleman called M Upender who is also his relative, on Jagannatham's behalf, to process a file. However, Jagannatham escaped ACB officials, while Srisailam and Upender have been arrested and produced before the principal special judge for ACB cases here.
