ABVP Activists Attack College Principal For Hoisting National Flag Wearing Shoes
Hyderabad: An attack by the ABVP activists on junior government college principal for hoisting the national flag on Independence Day while wearing shoes has created a storm. The incident proves the saffron batch's double standards as they conveniently ignored the BJP president Amit Shah's similar act - Shah unfurled the national flag wearing his shoes at the party's headquarters in New Delhi on the Independence Day. Incidentally, ABVP, the BJP's student wing, didn’t condemn his act while they beat up the principal Mohammed Yaqeen black and blue in Nizamabad.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday demanded the arrest of ABVP workers who assaulted the principal.
Not just Hyderabad MP, but also MBT Spokesman Amjedullah Khan, sought action against the suspected activists. He wrote a letter to the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao seeking to take stern action against the guilty saying, the attack reflects "growing intolerance by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh".
It all began, when the principal Mohammed Yaqeen, was asked to remove his shoes while unfurling the national flag. Though Yaqueen said that there is no such rule in the law, the mob didn’t listen and the chant grew louder with slogans “Principal down, down” and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'.
The activists later pulled the principal and demanded apology from him, as the they chanted 'Jai Shree Ram'. One of them also said the principal to go to Pakistan.
Nizamabad police lodged a case under sections 290, 332, 153A following a complaint by the principal.
