9 Killed As Structure Collapses During Wedding Rituals

Jaipur: As many as nine persons were killed and 15 others injured at a wedding rituals when an overhanged roof collapsed during wedding rituals.

The incident occurred on Friday night in Pidhi village under Kumher police station limits of Bharatpur district, Rajasthan, where the 'Bhaat' ritual was going on.

According to the police, the roof collapsed due to overweight when several people sat on the eaves (overhanged roof) to have a closer look at the ceremony.

People, who sat under the roof got trapped, when the roof suddenly caved in, Assistant SP (Bhartpur rural) Dharmendra Singh told PTI. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where some of them were declared brought dead and some died during treatment. Women were among eight of the 15 injured have all been admitted to the SMS Hospital in Jaipur. - PTI
