70 Farm Labourers Stranded in Submerged Fields

Nellore: About 70 farm labourers were stranded in Doravanisatram mandal of Nellore district when the fields they were working in was submerged under rain water owing to incessant rainfall in the region for over a week now.

On learning about the labourers' plight, revenue and police officials rushed to the fields to rescue them. According to the revenue officials special boats are being requisitioned to rescue the labourers. Officials are contemplating requesting for helicopter rescue if the boats fail to reach the stranded labourers.
