7-Year-Old Falls into Metro Rail Pit, Dies

In a shocking incident, a seven-year-old boy fell into a pit dug as part of the metro works and died on the spot. The incident occurred on Thursday near the Old Gandhi Hospital area in Secunderabad. The boy was identified as Narasimha.

Recent rains have filled the pit and the unsuspecting boy slipped and fell into it. The boy was immediately pulled out and efforts were made to resuscitate him. Later, the police rushed to the spot and have begun investigation.

Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who came to know about the incident, spoke to the L adn T Company which is constructing the Metro Rail Project and asked them to pay compensation to the kin of the boy. The Metro has reportedly agreed to pay Rs 4 lakh towards ex-gratia.
