6 Held For Trying To Sell Psychotropic Substances

Hyderabad: Six persons from Ameerpet were arrested on Friday for trying to sell psychotropic substances. The police seized Alprazolam and Diazepam from their possession.
The accused K. Kiran Goud, a toddy contractor, along with five others including two students was selling adulterated toddy by mixing Alprazolam and Diazepam for taste, sedative and muscle relaxing effects to the consumers. For adultration, Kiran would purchase Alprazolam for Rs1.3 lakh per kg and Diazepam for Rs10,000 per kg. He later decided to sell the drugs directly to the customers to acquire huge profit.
The others arrested were K Maveen of Siddipet, Y Srikanth of Kamareddy, Mohammed Azmath of Bidar in Karnataka and K. Basava Raju of Rajendra Nagar. The police recovered 2.5 kgs of Alprazolam and 500 grams of Diazepam from them.
