5 Killed, 2 Injured in Blast at Fireworks Manufacturing Unit in Sivakasi

Chennai: Five people died on the spot and two others were critically injured following a blast at a firecrackers manufacturing unit in Sivakasi of Villupuram on Sunday.

The impact of the blast left the five bodies and a few body parts strewn over an area of more than 500 meters. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and their condition is stated to be critical. Fire and police personnel who reached the blast site have cordoned-off the area. The cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained. Further report is awaited.
